20th Century: 1950-1959

The 50s, better known as the time of full skirts, slim waists, pin curls, and the most well known trade mark – red lipstick!
Who doesn’t love the timeless look of the slim-waisted, full-skirted, feminine 50s dress?
No one, since this is such a classic part of fashion by now that everyone is just wearing it all the time in some type of way.
In the 50s the genders did divide extremely when it came to the fashion and clothing style all in all.
Men made sure to wear more relaxing day to day wear, while the women made it part of the daily routine to look flawless and stunning no matter what the to do list had in store.
In the early and mid 50s was the “new look” by Dior still the style for the, back then, modern woman, which slowly changed as the decade leaned closer to the 60s.
It went from the fullness to a more slim look, inspired by what the teenagers was wearing of style.
But for the first part of the decade the style stayed in the classy style.
Even the evening dresses wore the same silhouette with a more glam look to it, using the more expensive materials, including silk, to give it the more elegant and eventful look and feel.
BUT!! No matter the time of day, the event, or the responsibilities of the day, it was exceedingly important that a woman be impeccably turned out.
This meaning that her hair was always groomed and sat perfectly, her makeup was on point, and her accessories all matched with her outfit of choice, no matter what.
To the modern women, having multiple accessories, shoes, and bags to fit every single thing in your clothes, sounds more like a dream come true, but to them, it meant fitting into the look.
I personally would love to have a walk-in closet where everything had a perfect match, but until that day comes, I will do my best with what I got.
So, to take something from this fabulous decade, we have the silhouette with the slim waist and full or fitted skirt, the natural, yet noticeable well placed makeup, and of course, the always matching accessories.
That is something we all might want to combine with our modern day fashion woman.
Now we get ready to enter the 60s, where a classic look still takes its hold, but colors starts to become more of the fashion.
Remember to stay fashionable and safe.
Kisses.
