First Position

Ballet is a beautiful, graceful, and yet painful performance, which somehow still takes over our hearts.
For the past 2 months, I have taking on the experience of dancing ballet.
This have by no means been easy, which I hope most people in the world already know, but it has been an amazing eye opener for me that I look forward to see more of.
I will say that 12 years of jazz ballet (a different dance form with some moves that resemble ballet moves) as a child, I did have the advantage of some flexibility, but not nearly enough to feel like this would be easy.
As my fellow classmates are getting ready to take their exams in Maj/June, I keep my focus on my flexibility, remembering the moves, and preparing my flats.
Getting into pointe shoes takes years of practice and strength, which we all know, so for now I just relax with my flats, and try not to look so funny when I dance.
Here is how I prepare some of my flats;
I start by putting the shoes on, lightning the elastic that wraps around the opening of the shoes.

After this, I mark where the elastic band should be across my foot and start sewing it on.
Now all I have to do is put it back on and give it a little try.

Now I will go do some Demi pliƩs and pirouettes until my shoes break and I have to do it all over again.
Stay safe and happy my lovelies.
Kisses,
Micala.
