20th Century: 1920-1929

Jumping forward to a time of, what the movie industry believes, feathered headbands, and short shapeless dresses.

The 20s are considered the “Great Gatsby” period in many modern day peoples lives. It’s easy to remember the style when you hear those words. And who can blame them. We didn’t live back then, but to out luck, someone very loved in the fashion world did.

Coco “Gabrielle” Chanel.

She was a big part in creating the ” la garçonne”, better known as the flapper dress, which is the very dress that is associated with the 20s.

Truth be told, the dresses did swing between floor long and under the knee length, but they didn’t seem to be shorter than that.

A time of shapeless dresses, which made women alter their bodies to fit with this shapeless look, since it was believed that curved women didn’t suit this style. The hair was cut into a bob, to make the everyday styling easier and more free, like the dress.

The hairstyle did though loose a bit of the charm af the decade went on, leaving longer hair to be more stylish as the new decade approaches.

As we get towards the end of this decade, it’s time to look at how the modern woman can take this style and make it a part of her normal wardrobe.

First and foremost we have the hair. cutting your hair into a bob would give a small part of the style, but shapeless dresses, skirts, and shirts would also be an easy choice. Maybe go for a fringe party dress with a low heel and a styled bob.

Another small thing that I would like to share with you is that Vogue in next months (June) magazine is featuring a piece in their art and culture special about how the 18th and 19th century is in style right now with the designers touch.

Beautiful jackets, dresses, shirts, and skirts created to give off that old vibe with a modern twist.

Now I will get ready to travel to the next decade and bring more with me. I will see you next week and stay safe.

Kisses.
