Declutter Time

What do you get when you have too many things in a too-small room? Well, let me tell you, it’s not going to be very organized, that’s for sure.

We all know how easy it is to fall in love with something when out walking. Clothes, shoes, accessories, furniture, books, you name it. And we can all agree that there is nothing wrong with that, but it can sometimes take over your home/room and that’s when it becomes a problem.

So a good place to start with getting organized is by decluttering. We all have things where we go like “this means something in some way” but in the end, does it really?

For the shoppers (like me) will the closet always be one of the hardest places to declutter. Just because I haven’t used that dress of those shoes all year, doesn’t mean I won’t. The mentality of a shopaholic. So if you feel the same way, don’t start in the closet. A good place to start is makeup and beauty products. We all have a lot of them, but they do actually expire at a point. If it’s something you like using, take a picture of it and save that for next time you need something.

“The best way to find out what we really need is to get rid of what we don’t”.

Marie Kondo.

Then, like I myself, there is the home office. This space is used for so much on a daily bases, so this is one of the more important places to keep organized and decluttered. Throw out pens that don’t work anymore, go through the notepads, and see if anything in them is useful. If not, out, if it is, keep, and if they haven’t been used yet, of course, keep.

Remember to go through boxes and drawers. You might find many things that you know for a fact that don’t need to stay. I mean, I just realized the other day that I got one drawer filled with nothing but candles. I know I love the coziness of candles, but I might not need that many of them.

Last and sadly an important part is your closet. The place where all those amazing outfits get put together for all those amazing things you have experienced throughout the years (maybe not as much this year, but still). This is like the holy grail of all fashion and shopping loving girls, women, and ladies out there. No matter your age, this is a very important place. Now, all we need to find out is how to declutter it. I might not be the best person to ask since my biggest accomplishment with my closet has been getting rid of some broken shoes (I had quite a lot of those) and some clothes that looked like it had seen better days. I mean, I’m down to only having 25 pairs of shoes. I need to get some shopping on because that just doesn’t feel right.

But no matter if you need to get organized, or just need to buy more things to fill up the empty spots (like me) then stay safe and remember to love yourself. You are worth so much in life.
