Evening Routine

After a long, hard day, cuddling in clean bedsheets with a book and a cup of tea is just one of the best things ever. Don’t you agree?
The bags under my eyes are Chanel.
We can go back and forth from now on and till the end of times about what is the best evening routine to do. I get that some do more things and some do less, but whatever you do, just feel good about it. This is simply what I like to do before I go to bed and the list might change depending on the season, but the basics stay the same.
The very first thing I do before getting ready for bed is to put my phone in the charger and looking in my calendar. I know I might sound addicted to my calendar, which I am, but without that, I wouldn’t have the structure and organization that I need in my daily life.

Then it’s time to lay out tomorrow’s outfit and pack my bag ready, so nothing is missing. I have forgotten my keys before and I don’t want to be in that situation again. It’s too embarrassing, to be honest. And yes, I plan my outfit according to the season and weather, but sometimes still change my mind in the morning.
Then I remove my makeup and sometimes put a facemask on while cleaning a bit up and writing down some ideas. I also use this time to remove the bed accessories (pillows, blanket) so the bed is ready.
I find my PJ and my towels and run a brush through my hair before heading to the bathroom. I like to brush my teeth before I get in the shower, just so I can head to bed a bit faster. I have to wash my hair every day during summer and always chooses to do it before bed. The heat with dry it during the night and it won’t feel greasy. I also take slightly cold showers pretty much all year, but even colder during summer. I love the sun, but don’t like the heat.
After the shower is done and I’m all colled down and feeling clean, I moisturize from head to toe, literally. Face creme, body butter, and softening foot creme, which makes my feet feel like they just came from the salon. It’s such a nice feeling. On with my PJ, which is more like underwear, then PJ, but still, love it. And a slight spray of perfume. Yes, I sleep wearing perfume. I did learn something from some of the world’s biggest beauty idols.
I make myself a nice cup of tea and grab my book (whichever one I’m reading) and head to bed. It may sound super old ladylike, but it does help you sleep so much better if your phone isn’t your bedtime activity. I do use it sometimes, but only if it’s for work or in other ways important (with the occasional Instagram pic. Haha). And when you feel ready to sleep, on with the sleeping mask, in with the earplugs (I have a window pointing out to the street, which is very noisy) and sleep till the daylight wakes you up (or like me till 5 am).
Remember that sleep is a very important thing. If you don’t get enough sleep, your full-on the system will have a hard time getting started and on with the new day. Sleeping is more important than Instagramming. Your body is worth all the care in the world, but even the smallest of choices can mean a big difference. Love yourself and take care.
